Short answer: Corporate coffee mugs are the most over-ordered, under-used gift I see — most offices already have thirty of them in the pantry. At Meru Gifting we now steer clients toward mugs with a real upgrade (steel base, lid, handle comfort) or away from mugs entirely, toward a bottle or flask that solves a problem the pantry mug doesn't.
Updated September 2026.

What is the corporate mug problem, exactly?
Every office pantry I've walked into has the same shelf: a stack of ceramic mugs with logos from five different vendors, half of them chipped, none of them anyone's favourite. Companies keep ordering mugs because they're cheap and familiar, but a plain ceramic mug with a logo doesn't do anything a free one from the pantry doesn't already do. It's the easiest gift to approve and the easiest one to forget.
Why do most corporate mugs end up ignored?
Because they don't solve a real problem. A basic ceramic mug holds coffee — so does every other mug in the building. Nobody picks a favourite mug based on the logo; they pick it because it keeps coffee hot longer, doesn't spill in a bag, or has a lid for a desk that isn't theirs. If the mug doesn't do one of those three things better than what's already on the shelf, it's competing on nothing.
How did we fix this for our own gifting recommendations?
We stopped recommending plain mugs as a standalone gift unless the budget was genuinely under ₹300. Above that, we push clients toward a Steel Base Coffee Mug with Handle at ₹350 that actually retains heat, or a Coffee Tumbler with Flip Lid at ₹525 that survives a commute. Small upgrade, real difference in whether it gets used.
Steel Base Coffee Mug with Handle 400 ml – MGH 3109₹350 · MOQ 50 branded
Coffee Tumbler with Flip Lid 450 ml – MGH 3210₹525 · MOQ 50 branded
Glass Coffee Cup with Cork Band 380 ml – MGH 7091₹340 · MOQ 50 branded
Steel Inner Coffee Mug with Lid 450 ml – MGH 2236₹475 · MOQ 50 branded
When does a plain mug still make sense as a gift?
At a genuinely token price point, or as one item inside a larger hamper rather than the whole gift. A Coffee Mug with Lid and Handle at ₹275 works fine as a joining-kit add-on alongside a diary and a pen — nobody expects it to be the hero. The mistake is spending ₹300–₹400 per head on 200 plain mugs as the entire gift and calling it done.
What should I gift instead if I want to skip mugs altogether?
A bottle. Bottles solve a problem mugs don't — they travel, they keep water cold on a Bangalore commute, and they don't chip in a bag the way ceramic does. Our Stainless Steel Bottle with Strap at ₹350 sits at the same price as a decent mug and gets used every single day, desk or no desk.

Are corporate coffee mugs still a good gift?
Only at a token price point or as one item in a larger hamper. As the entire gift above ₹300 per head, a plain mug usually goes unused.
What's better than a plain mug for a similar budget?
A steel base mug with a handle, a flip-lid tumbler, or a strapped steel bottle — all at ₹350–₹525, all genuinely more useful.
What's the MOQ for branded corporate mugs?
50 pieces for branded batches, with a free mock-up of your logo before production.
Can mugs be part of a bigger joining kit?
Yes — a mug pairs well with a diary and pen at the entry price point of a joining kit, rather than standing alone.
How long does a bulk mug order take to produce?
7–15 working days once branding is approved, same as most standard corporate gift categories.
