What 442 Google Reviews Taught Us About Delivery Promises

Packed corporate gift boxes ready for dispatch with delivery labels

Short answer: I have read most of our 442+ Google reviews myself, and the pattern is clear: the reviews that mention delivery almost always talk about whether the timeline we quoted matched reality, not whether it was fast. At Meru Gifting we now under-promise on the 7-15 working day window on purpose, because a kept promise earns more trust than a rushed one.

A batch ready to leave our studio - what happens between mock-up and this box is what reviews are really about.

What do our Google reviews actually say about delivery?

Across 4.9 stars and 442+ reviews for the Meru family, the delivery-related comments cluster around three things: did the order arrive when we said it would, did the packaging survive transit, and did anyone tell them proactively if something shifted. Almost no one writes a review praising speed alone. What they praise is being told the truth upfront.

Why did we start under-promising on timelines?

Early on I quoted optimistic delivery dates because I wanted to win the order. A few times production hit a snag - a die-line correction, a delayed courier slot during Diwali week - and I had to call a client and explain a delay. Those calls are uncomfortable, and I noticed the clients who got that call early were far more forgiving than the ones who found out only when the courier tracking stalled. Now we quote 7-15 working days for standard branded orders and treat that as a promise, not a best case.

What causes most corporate gifting delays?

In my experience it is rarely the courier. It is usually a late brief - a logo file arriving in the wrong format, an approval sitting in someone's inbox for four days, or a delivery address list that changes after production has started. I now build a buffer into every quote specifically for approval delays, because I would rather deliver early than explain a miss.

  1. Share logo, brand colours and a rough headcount as early as possible.
  2. Approve the mock-up within 24-48 hours to protect the 7-15 day window.
  3. Lock the delivery address list before production starts.
  4. Flag festival-season orders 4-6 weeks ahead, especially Diwali.
  5. Ask us for a written timeline, not a verbal one, for anything over 200 pieces.

How do we handle it when a delivery date does slip?

We call, not email, and we call before the date, not after. That single habit shows up again and again in the reviews that mention us by name for handling a tight deadline well. I would rather a client hear "this will be a day late" from me directly than discover it from a tracking page.

What should I ask a vendor to guarantee my delivery date?

Ask for the timeline in writing, ask what happens if your approval is late, and ask how they will notify you if something slips. Those three answers tell you more than a promised delivery date ever will.

7-15 working days from mock-up approval to dispatch. Best for bottles, diaries and tech gifts in the ₹250-₹1,650 range.

Place your order 4-6 weeks before Diwali. Our studio runs at full capacity through October, so early briefs get priority slots.

Dharohar pieces made with individual artisan families need longer lead times than stock branded items - ask us for a specific date at brief stage.

Want a written delivery date before you commit?

Send us your headcount and occasion and we will confirm a specific dispatch date, not just a range.

What is Meru Gifting's standard delivery timeline?

Standard branded bulk orders take 7-15 working days from mock-up approval to dispatch. Bespoke or fully artisanal Dharohar pieces need longer.

How far ahead should I order for Diwali?

Place Diwali orders 4-6 weeks ahead. This is the busiest season and protects your delivery date even with high demand.

What causes most delays in corporate gift orders?

In my experience it is usually a late-approved mock-up or a delivery address list that changes after production starts, more often than a courier issue.

Does Meru Gifting update clients if a delivery date changes?

Yes. We call clients proactively if a timeline shifts rather than waiting for them to ask, which is the single change that has improved our reviews the most.
