Short answer: I run Meru Gifting, and the fastest way to tell a real gifting studio from a reseller is to ask three things: can you see stock or a sample in hand, is there a documented MOQ and GST invoice, and does the vendor make or personalise anything themselves. A reseller forwards your brief to someone else; a studio like ours, running since 2012, controls production.

Why does it matter if a vendor is a reseller?
It matters because resellers add a layer between you and the factory or artisan, and that layer usually shows up as slower mock-up turnaround, vaguer answers on MOQ, and no real control over quality when something goes wrong. I started Meru Gifting inside Meru Trophy, which has been making awards and mementos in Bangalore since 2000, so when a client asks me why a bottle came in a particular finish, I can walk to the floor and ask the person who sourced it. A reseller usually cannot.
What questions actually separate a studio from a reseller?
I tell every first-time buyer to ask five things before they sign off a PO. The answers reveal more than any pitch deck.
| Question | Real studio answer | Reseller answer |
|---|---|---|
| Can I visit or video-call the workshop? | Yes, specific address and hours | Vague, "our warehouse partner" |
| What is your MOQ and why? | Exact number, tied to their own production runs | "Depends", changes call to call |
| Who personalises the item? | Named process: engraving, UV print, in-house | "We will check with our vendor" |
| How fast is a mock-up? | 1-3 days, often same day | 3-7 days, sometimes more |
| Is there a GST invoice and GeM listing? | Yes, on record | Sometimes, often via a third party |
How do I verify a gifting studio before placing a bulk order?
Start small. Ask for a paid sample, not a free one, and see how long it takes to arrive and how close it is to what was promised. At Meru Gifting our studio is at #273/2, SC Road, 2nd Cross, Gandhinagar, Bengaluru 560009, open Monday to Saturday 9 AM to 7 PM, and I genuinely prefer buyers who walk in before committing to 500 pieces. If a vendor discourages a visit or a video call, that is data.
Lekhan Personalised Leather Stationery Set — Diary & Card Holder₹2999 · MOQ 50 branded
Wooden Lid Vacuum Bottle with Gift Box and Pouch 500 ml – MGH 2241₹750 · MOQ 50 branded
PU Diary with Gold Metal Plate – 8030-40₹290 · MOQ 50 branded
Bamboo Wireless Charger with Cable Organiser (9028-18)₹750 · MOQ 50 branded
Does a lower price from a reseller mean a worse gift?
Not always, but it often means less accountability. A reseller can quote a competitive price because they are marking up someone else's minimum order, and when 500 diaries arrive with the wrong logo placement, you are negotiating with a middleman instead of the workshop. I have taken calls from companies who ordered through an online marketplace, got a mismatched batch, and had no one to escalate to beyond a support ticket.
What does working with an actual studio look like day to day?
You get one point of contact who has seen the product being made. At Meru Gifting that is usually me or someone on my team on WhatsApp, sending a free mock-up before any bulk run, confirming brand colours and packaging, and giving a 7-15 working day turnaround we actually control because we are not waiting on a third party's third party.

Want to see our studio before you order?
Book a visit or a video call and we will show you exactly how your gifts get made, branded and packed.
How do I know if a corporate gifting vendor is a genuine studio?
Ask if you can visit their workshop or take a video call, request a paid sample, and check if they quote an exact MOQ. A real studio like Meru Gifting controls its own production and personalisation.
Is Meru Gifting a manufacturer or a reseller?
Meru Gifting is the gifting studio of Meru Trophy, Bangalore's awards partner since 2000. We run our own studio at Gandhinagar, Bengaluru, handle personalisation in-house, and work directly with 4,000+ artisan families for Dharohar pieces.
What is the MOQ for branded corporate gifts?
Our MOQ is 50 pieces for branded items. Artisanal, unbranded Dharohar pieces can be ordered in smaller quantities.
Can I visit before placing a bulk order?
Yes. Walk-ins and video-call shopping are welcome at our studio, #273/2, SC Road, 2nd Cross, Gandhinagar, Bengaluru 560009, Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM.
Why does GST registration matter when choosing a vendor?
A GST-registered vendor issues proper invoices for your accounting, and it usually signals a formally run business rather than an informal reseller. Meru Gifting is GST registered and a GeM vendor.
