Corporate Gift Baskets: An Old Format Done Right

Steel bottle, cork notebook and wood coaster gift set, a curated corporate gift basket

Short answer: Corporate gift baskets are an old format, but they still work when the contents are curated, not padded — three to four useful items around one memorable centrepiece, at ₹350 to ₹9,000 per person. At Meru Gifting we rebuild the basket brief for every client instead of reusing a fixed hamper list.

A basket that works because every item earns its place — nothing added just to fill space.

Why do I say corporate gift baskets are an old format done right, not a new idea?

Because the format itself isn't the problem — the padding is. I've unpacked plenty of baskets over the years with cellophane wrap, shredded paper, and four items that don't relate to each other: a keychain, a random notebook, a sweet packet, and a pen nobody asked for. That's what gave baskets a bad name. Done right, a basket is three or four items chosen around one theme, with one piece the recipient will actually remember. That's the whole craft of it.

What makes a basket feel curated instead of assembled?

Curated means every item answers the same question — who is this for, and what will they use. I build baskets around a "hero item" (the piece someone notices first) and one or two "support items" (things they'll use weekly). A hero item might be an artisanal showpiece or a well-finished tech accessory; support items are usually a diary, a bottle, or a small tech piece. When I see a basket fail, it's almost always because it has three hero items competing, or three filler items with no hero at all.

What's a basket build I'd actually recommend, item by item?

Here's how I'd assemble baskets at three budget levels, hero item first.

Budget Hero item Support items Total ₹/person
Token Two-Tone Soft Bound Diary Small brass tealight holder ₹350–₹550
Standard Steel Bottle, Cork Notebook & Coaster Set Already bundled ₹1,000
Premium Lekhan Leather Stationery Set Brass diya set for festive timing ₹2,999–₹4,998
Executive Corporate Travel Desk Hamper Bundled — bottle, power bank, charger, umbrella ₹8,999

Which basket format should you pick — bundled kit or built-from-scratch?

This is the decision most clients skip, and it changes both your cost and your timeline.

Pre-bundled gift set

  • Faster to quote and produce
  • Consistent presentation across recipients
  • Fixed contents, less flexibility
  • Good for 100+ recipient orders

Built-from-scratch basket

  • Fully customised to your brief
  • Can mix artisanal and everyday items
  • Needs 2–3 weeks lead time to curate
  • Better for client or leadership gifting

How would you build the right basket for your occasion?

Answer this and I'll point you to the build that fits.

Which basket build suits your gifting occasion?

What's this basket for?

Go with the Bamboo Eco Desk Gift Set at ₹1,000 — practical, consistent, and quick to brand for a batch of new joiners.

The Lekhan Leather Stationery Set at ₹2,999 reads as considered without being showy.

Pair the Deepam Brass Oil Lamp Set at ₹1,999 with a diary from our festive hampers collection.

The Corporate Travel Desk Hamper at ₹8,999 covers everything a travelling executive actually uses.

How much should a corporate gift basket cost?

Move the slider — I've mapped what each budget realistically buys.

What does ₹X buy in a gift basket?

Per person:

A single hero item — a diary or a small brass piece — with light packaging. No room for a support item yet.
A bundled 2–3 item set, like our Steel Bottle, Cork Notebook & Coaster Set at ₹1,000.
A premium hero item plus one support piece, such as leather stationery with a festive add-on.
A full executive hamper with multiple useful items, like the Corporate Travel Desk Hamper.

Can a basket carry our branding without looking like merchandise?

Yes, if you brand the support items and not every single piece. On the sets above we usually print or engrave the diary, bottle or box, and leave the hero item — especially if it's artisanal — closer to unbranded. That keeps the basket from reading as "logo merchandise stacked in a box." MOQ for branded basket orders is 50, and we send a free mock-up of the branded items before production.

How long does a basket order take, and what about GST?

Bundled gift sets ship in 7–15 working days once you confirm quantities and branding. Fully custom baskets with an artisanal hero item need 3–4 weeks, longer for Diwali given how early artisan production slots fill — I'd place festive basket orders 4–6 weeks ahead. Every basket order gets a GST invoice, and we're a GeM-registered vendor for government buyers. Tax reminder: gifts up to ₹5,000 per employee per year are exempt as a perquisite under Rule 3(7)(iv); above that it's taxable to the employee, and input GST credit on gifts is blocked under Section 17(5)(h) of the CGST Act — confirm with your CA.

What's the minimum order for a corporate gift basket?

MOQ is 50 pieces for branded baskets. Smaller, unbranded artisanal baskets can sometimes go lower — ask us for current minimums.

Should a basket always include food or sweets?

No, and we often recommend against it — dietary restrictions and shelf life make food baskets riskier. Most of our baskets are dry-fruit-free and built around usable items instead.

Can I mix a pre-bundled set with an extra item?

Yes, we regularly add a festive or artisanal piece on top of a bundled set — it's one of our most requested customisations.

Do you deliver baskets pan-India?

Yes, to 25+ states, and internationally to the USA, UK, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Want a basket built around your budget?

Tell me your headcount, budget and occasion, and I'll suggest a hero item and support pieces.
